Index Day Trading

Index-Day-Trading™ is the first online service that delivers Daily Market Commentaries, which also include a daily outlook (prediction) for the short-, mid-, and long-term. The market commentaries are largely based on an analysis of the volume behavior of major US indexes. This service was developed by Highlight Investments Group as an independent project in order to satisfy the requests of traders of index derivatives, as well as traders who wanted additional indicators for analyzing the indexes.

The Daily market Commentaries are structured as follows:

  1. Market Stage: This section discusses the nature of the currently prevailing long-term trend. A long-term trend is a trend that generally lasts for more than a month. The long-term trend could be characterized as an “Uptrend”, a “Downtrend”, a “Resistance Corridor”, or a “Support Corridor”.

  2. Market Status: This part discusses the market over the short- to mid-term and anticipate where it is likely going in that time. The analysis is based primarily on the recent volume behavior of the major US indexes. A short-term trend is a trend that generally lasts only a few days, whereas a mid-trend term generally lasts from several days to several weeks;

  3. Notes and Recommendations: This part provides further clarifications regarding the terms and definitions, provides background information on various aspects of the technical analysis, and makes trading recommendations based on the prevailing market conditions (which are outlined and discussed in points 1 and 2 above).

Because the technical analysis of the current and future stock market conditions is based largely on the volume behavior of the major US indexes, the one-day intraday chart of the NASDAQ-100 index is always attached to each commentary. This serves to (visually) underpin the commentary you have just read. In addition, you will find recommended chart settings throughout the text (for example, we might say, “See a 15-day chart with a 120-minute volume moving average), so that you can “see for yourself” what is being discussed.

The market commentaries are updated each trading day by 8:30 PM EST (except on holidays). On rare occasions, under extenuating circumstances, the updates may follow somewhat later. In some instances, an extended market commentary may be issued on holidays and weekends.

In order to stay up-to-date on the market, it is best to read the commentaries on a daily basis. You can set your account up to receive the commentaries by email, so there is no need to visit the site everyday. To do so, simply log into our members’ section after you have registered. Click here to see a sample market commentary.

The site also maintain an extensive archive of past market commentaries. The archive starts with an entry for March 13, 2002 - the date we first officially published an online commentary.

For a better understanding of the (few) technical terms that are used in the commentaries, click here. This link will take you to a “definitions page”. All the terms in the market commentaries are linked to their particular explanation.

The "how to" tutorial outlines how traders may benefit from the daily commentaries. This tutorial is divided into four parts and explains how:

  1. Conservative, long-term oriented investors can make 5 – 10 trades per year - trading the major US indexes and index derivatives;

  2. Mid-term oriented traders who wish to trade the major US indexes and their derivatives can make 5-10 trades per month;

  3. Short-term, active traders wishing to trade index derivatives can make approximately 5-10 trades per week;

  4. All traders can benefit from the market commentaries by using them as an add-on indicator (to their already existing trading system) and thereby reduce their trading risk.

Please note that this tutorial was not designed specifically to make you an expert on volume- based technical analysis; rather, the site has provided it to assist you in making more informed trading decisions. For those of you who really want to learn the particulars of volume analysis, we recommend a visit to www.MarketVolume.com.
